Birth Bag Essentials

Preparing your birth bag can be overwhelming, so here is a simple guide to some of the things you may want to include. The birth bag isn't just for baby, its for you too! Comfort is key when it comes to packing your bag, so make sure to remember the clothes you feel most comfortable in and are fairly loose for your going home outfit.

In my Hypnobirthing classes we will cover essentials things to consider for your birth environment, you may not want to take these with you, but they will certainly add a lovely feel to your birth environment if you do.

When packing for baby, a couple of each item is a good choice, also adding newborn size and 0-3 months. There can be a slight difference in the 'estimated size' of baby so taking both sizes will mean something will definitely fit your bundle of joy when they arrive.

A REALLY important thing to remember is your maternity file along with any hospital notes you have gathered over the course of your midwife appointments, as well as your birth plan( if you have one ). These are essential for your care when you arrive.

Even if you are planning a home birth, its a good idea to pack your birth bag anyway, just incase! It will be easy to pick it up and leave the house should you wish to change your plans or should your birth journey change meaning a hospital birth is more suitable for you and baby.
